Rod was first attracted to the guitar as a classical instrument on hearing Segovia play music by the nineteenth century composer Fernando Sor. This lead to the music of Spain in general and also to the folk orientated music of South America.

He plays music by:-
(Spain) Sor, Tarrega, Torroba, Turina, Albeniz, Granados, Quiroga
(South America) Villa-Lobos, Abel Fleury, Hector Ayala Ponce
         (U.K.) Walton, Berkley
         (Italy) Paganini, Guiliani

His classical repertoire is supplemented by some popular flamenco, arrangements of standard songs and movie themes and some rag-time.

On the Lute he plays music by Dowland, Holbourne, Cutting and Johnson together with contemporary arrangements of popular songs and dances.
